Kigali, Rwanda – November 24, 2024 – At a distinguished ceremony at the Kigali Convention Centre, three luminaries of Rwandan literature, Alexis Kagame, Bigirumwami, and Mukagasana, were celebrated with lifetime literary awards. This recognition highlights their profound contributions to the cultural and literary heritage of Rwanda.
The award for Alexis Kagame was received on his behalf by Jean Bosco Ntagungira, Bishop of Butare Diocese. Yolande Mukagasana, celebrated for her impactful writings, accepted her award in person, while Mgr Jean Marie Vianney Nsengumuremyi, Episcopal Vicar of Nyundo Diocese, accepted the award for Bigirumwami.
