Huye, November 12, 2022- On behalf of President Paul Kagame, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente attended the silver jubilee of episcopal ordination of Monsignor Philippe Rukamba, Bishop of Butare Catholic Diocese. This ceremony took place at Butare Cathedral in Huye District.
In his address, Prime Minister started by conveying best wishes from President Paul Kagame to Monsignor Philippe Rukamba, as he celebrates his silver jubilee of episcopal ordination.
Prime Minister congratulated Monsignor Philippe Rukamba for all his achievements and contribution to the transformational journey of our country.
The Premier commended the partnership that exist between the Catholic Church and the Government of Rwanda and stated that the role of the Catholic Church is evident especially in education and health sectors as well as in family promotion.
On behalf of the Government of Rwanda, Prime Minister promised continuous support and cooperation with the Butare Diocese and the Catholic Church in Rwanda as whole.
He urged the Catholic Church and other Faith-Based organizations to actively participate in the implementation of Government programs including the fight against malnutrition/stunting, alcoholism and drug abuse especially among young people.
While concluding his remarks, Prime Minister also called upon Christians to be involved in Government programs to ensure a safe and prosperous future for their families and country.
